Default Completing orders for payment - bug

On a regular basis(1 out of 5 orders), when I go in to finalize an order for payment, I get the following error after clicking submit:

CustomReferenceMissingError - Serial Number is a required Custom Reference

I know the serial number/model number was there before I clicked submit. However, after this error comes up the serial number is gone. If I log out and log back in - most of the time I can complete the order. Each order has been completed using the SL App.
